“See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has triumphed.” — Revelation 5:5
The Lion of Judah is one of the oldest and most powerful symbols in Scripture. It's also where our brand gets its name. Here's what it means — and why it stands for strength with purpose.
Where it comes from
The image starts in Genesis 49:9, where Jacob blesses his son Judah and calls him “a lion's cub.” Judah's tribe became the royal line of Israel — the line of David, and ultimately the line of Jesus. By the time you reach Revelation 5:5, the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” is a title for Christ himself: the one who has triumphed.
What the lion represents
- Strength — not loud or reckless, but steady and unshakable.
- Courage — facing what's in front of you without backing down.
- Kingship and dignity — carrying yourself with purpose, not pride.
- Conviction — standing for something even when it costs you.
It's a picture of power under control — exactly the kind of strength an athlete spends years building. Not strength for show, but strength with a reason behind it.
Why we named the brand for it
Iron Lion exists for athletes who want their training to mean something. The lion is the standard: train hard, stay disciplined, carry yourself with conviction. Our Rev 5:5 Original Lion hoodie is the piece the whole brand is named for, and the heart of our Faith & Country collection.
Train like a lion. 🦁
